Freelance Residential Building Surveyor

About Clear View Surveyors

Clear View Surveyors is an independent residential surveying company providing clear, professional property advice to homebuyers.

We specialise in RICS Level 2 Home Surveys and Level 3 Building Surveys, with a strong focus on thorough inspections, accurate reporting and practical advice that clients can easily understand.

As part of our continued growth, we are expanding our geographical coverage and are looking for experienced freelance residential surveyors to work with us.

The Role

You will carry out residential surveys within an agreed local coverage area.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing RICS Level 2 Home Surveys and Level 3 Building Surveys
  • Identifying building defects, risks and future maintenance requirements
  • Recording clear and comprehensive inspection notes and photographs
  • Preparing accurate reports using Levels report-writing software
  • Explaining significant findings to clients where required
  • Completing reports within the required turnaround times
  • Working in accordance with Clear View Surveyors’ inspection, reporting and quality standards

Applicants should have the capacity to undertake a minimum of four surveys per week.

Clear View Surveyors will provide survey appointments, administrative support, access to Levels report-writing software and professional indemnity insurance cover for work completed on behalf of the company.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • AssocRICS, MRICS or FRICS status
  • At least two years’ relevant post-qualification experience
  • Experience carrying out Level 2 and Level 3 residential surveys
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction, building defects and maintenance requirements
  • Clear and accurate report-writing skills
  • Good organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently while following established procedures
  • A full UK driving licence and suitable transport
  • Appropriate equipment for residential property inspections

Working Arrangement and Fees

This is a self-employed freelance position.

Surveyors will work within an agreed geographical coverage area. All inspections and reports must be completed using Levels report-writing software and in accordance with Clear View Surveyors’ inspection and quality standards.

Professional indemnity insurance cover will be provided for work completed on behalf of Clear View Surveyors, subject to the terms of the company’s policy and working procedures.

The surveyor will receive 50% of the total survey fee quoted to the client. Clear View Surveyors will separately account for and pay any VAT due.

Payments will be made fortnightly.
