Pinsent Masons Vario: Contracts Manager Opportunity

About the Role

You want to work on challenging legal contracts projects on your own terms, while growing professionally and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Pinsent Masons Vario offers freelance legal professionals just this—fully flexible high-quality work with prestigious clients.

We are now seeking additional Contract Managers to join our Vario community, focusing on a live client assignment requiring immediate availability.


Key Responsibilities

As a Contract Manager, you will play a crucial role in:

  • Leading the development, implementation, and proactive management of contract risk mitigation strategies, aligned with the client’s business objectives.
  • Applying and following contract, claims, and insurance governance manuals.
  • Collaborating with the core project team to prepare a Contract Management Strategy Plan.

Core tasks include:

  • Analysing contracts to build, implement, and continuously update contract and claims management strategies.
  • Monitoring work and compliance—ensuring contractual obligations are met, including:
    • Tracking project schedules against contractual milestones.
    • Issuing timely contractual notices to customers and partners.
  • Establishing and implementing project-specific commercial procedures for:
    • Correspondence
    • Notifications
    • Insurance management
    • Variation requests/orders
    • Claims preparation
  • Monitoring and managing all communications with customers and partners—categorising, analysing, and responding to incoming/outgoing correspondence efficiently.
  • Developing and producing project-specific processes and methods for contract/claim management.
  • Anticipating risks in contract management and proposing proactive solutions to mitigate or control them.
  • Adopting a prudent commercial approach to safeguard the client’s interests with customers and partners (through contractual analysis).
  • Working closely with the project team to:
    • Identify and mitigate risks.
    • Spot, maximise, and leverage claim opportunities.
