Freelance Head of Creative Resource Management (Interim Cover)
Short-term contract | EU Communications | Syneos Health
We are seeking an experienced freelance Creative Resource lead to provide short-term cover for our Head of Creative Resource Management within EU Communications.
This is a critical interim role responsible for ensuring seamless day-to-day and forward planning of creative resource across multiple European Business Units. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Management, Client Services, and Creative leadership to maintain effective scheduling, utilisation, and delivery during the cover period.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Resource Management
- Manage and schedule creative resource across BUs, matching skills and experience to project needs.
- Lead weekly resource planning meetings and oversee forward planning (short and mid-term).
- Ensure balanced utilisation across the Creative Department, proactively addressing over/under allocation.
- Act as the main point of contact for creative resource requests within the London-based EU Communications team.
- Partner closely with Project Managers, Client Service teams, and Creative Directors to remove blockers and ensure smooth delivery.

Capacity & Utilisation
- Monitor capacity, utilisation, and booking accuracy using Paprika and WRIKE.
- Ensure projects are booked in advance with no clashes or gaps.
- Escalate risks and propose solutions to mitigate resourcing challenges.
- Support revenue delivery through proactive management of creative utilisation.
Forward Planning & Freelance Support
- Lead longer-term resource planning conversations.
- Identify where freelance support may be required and work with leadership to secure appropriate solutions.
- Maintain clarity across the Creative team on weekly and daily priorities.
Experience Required

- Significant experience in creative resource management within a healthcare communications, advertising, or integrated agency environment.
- Strong understanding of capacity planning, utilisation metrics, and budget impact.
- Confident working across conceptual, digital, artworking, print, and video disciplines.
- Comfortable operating at pace across multiple BUs in a complex European setting.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and able to provide calm, solutions-focused leadership.
- Experience with Paprika and/or WRIKE preferred.
This is a hands-on freelance role suited to a senior resource professional who can quickly embed, maintain operational stability, and ensure optimal creative utilisation during the cover period.
