Freelance Role: AI Pilot – Python Data Scraping Engineer (Tendem Project)
hackajob and Mindrift are partnering to connect developers with this exceptional part-time remote opportunity.
Mindrift is seeking highly skilled Python Data Scraping Engineers for the Tendem project, where you’ll drive specialized data scraping workflows within their hybrid AI + human system.
About the Role
In this freelance, part-time role (referred to as "AI Pilot" at Mindrift), you’ll work alongside Tendem Agents—AI tools handling repetitive tasks—while providing expertise, quality oversight, and critical thinking to ensure accurate and actionable results.
Ideal for individuals with hands-on experience in web scraping, data extraction, and automation, this role lets you contribute on a project-by-project basis, aligning with your expertise and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end data extraction workflows for structured scraping across complex, dynamic websites.
- Develop and optimise custom workflows (including Apify and OpenRouter tools) to extract data efficiently while meeting project deadlines.
- Handle JavaScript-rendered content, APIs, and inconsistent HTML structures for reliable data capture.
- Implement data quality checks, validation protocols, and formatting standards to ensure consistency before delivery.
- Scale operations for large datasets, implement parallelised/batched scraping, and maintain system stability against minor site changes.
- Collaborate with AI Agents and Mindrift staff to refine approaches where human expertise drives better outcomes.

Compensation
- $37/hr equivalent for this project (rate depends on complexity, pace, and specialization).
- Variable pay across projects based on scope, experience requirements, and challenges faced.

Requirements
- At least 3 years of professional experience in:
- Web scraping (Python: BeautifulSoup, Selenium, etc.)
- Handling JS/JS-Rendered Content, APIs & Proxies
- API integrations, data extraction from complex sites (archived content, inconsistent HTML)
- Data cleaning, normalisation, and validation (delivering CSV/JSON/Google Sheets outputs)

- 4-year degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields
- Experience with LLMs, AI frameworks or automation beyond static scraping
