Role Overview

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve their qualifications while ensuring compliance with awarding bodies and funding requirements.
  • The role requires a learner-centred approach, excellent organisation skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging teaching sessions through face-to-face, virtual, and blended learning methods.
  • Assess learners working towards Health & Social Care qualifications, including Apprenticeship Standards and Diploma programmes.
  • Plan and deliver individual learning programmes tailored to learner needs.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Observe learners within their workplace where appropriate.
  • Assess portfolios of evidence and ensure they meet awarding bodies' requirements.
  • Support learners in developing functional skills where applicable.
  • Prepare learners for End-Point Assessment where relevant.
  • Maintain accurate learner records using electronic portfolio systems and internal management systems.
  • Ensure all learner documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales.
  • Monitor learner progress and implement intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Work closely with employers to support learner development and achievement.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding, Prevent, and British Values throughout delivery.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements.
  • Participate in standardisation meetings, quality assurance activities, and continuous professional development.
  • Maintain occupational competence and knowledge of current legislation, policies, and best practice within Health & Social Care.
  • An ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to design lesson plans, teaching materials, short courses related to care qualifications.
  • Familiar with QCF or vocational qualifications.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Level 3 or above qualification in Health & Social Care.
  • Experience of working in a training environment within an Apprenticeship delivery organisation or experience in delivering Health & Social Care courses.
  • Assessor qualifications (CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).
  • Teaching qualifications (Award in Education and Training, Level 3 AET or above).
  • Current knowledge of Health and Social Care legislation and best practice.
  • Functional skills delivery experience.
  • Experience supporting learners in a workplace environment.
  • Experience using e-portfolio systems and learner management platforms.
  • Experience working to awarding bodies and ESFA funding requirements.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring ability.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • High standards of written and verbal communication.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to manage varied caseload independently.
  • Commitment to quality improvement and continuous professional development.
