Location: Harwich Hours: Monday to Friday Type: Full Time

Main Purpose of the Role

DSV are looking for a pro-active, positive and customer-focused Freight Forwarder to join our Cross Trade operations team. As we progress through a period of integration and business change, we are seeking an individual who can adapt quickly, remain organised under pressure, and maintain a high level of service whilst managing a busy and challenging workload.

You will be responsible for managing customer shipments from booking through to completion, ensuring operational excellence, proactive communication, and a first-class customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Accept and process customer bookings accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage cross-trade shipments from booking through to final delivery.
  • Proactively monitor shipments and provide timely updates to customers and stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, delays, or service challenges.
  • Liaise with carriers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution of shipments.
  • Ensure customer invoices are raised accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Chase and validate supplier costs to ensure complete and timely financial closure of jobs.

About You

  • Previous experience within transport, logistics, freight forwarding, or international road operations preferred.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and a willingness to support the wider team.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Good IT skills and experience using transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
