Role Responsibilities
The French Teaching Assistant will:
- Support French teachers across KS3 and KS4 to deliver engaging, communicative lessons
- Work with small groups to develop:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing skills in French
- Provide additional language support to pupils preparing for GCSE French examinations
- Track pupil progress and regularly share feedback with:
- Class teachers
- Head of MFL
- Build confident, enthusiastic relationships with pupils to foster:
- Their love of the French language
- Cultural engagement
Requirements
Ideal candidates will:
- Hold a 2:1 or 1st Class degree from a top 30 UK university in:
- French
- Modern Languages
- A closely related discipline
- UK-awarded bachelor’s degree is essential
- Possess preceding child-centred experience in a UK education setting
- Be a fluent, culturally aware, enthusiastic French Teaching Assistant with:
- Strong communication skills
- Genuine passion for language teaching
- Legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship unavailable)

Salary and Contract Info
- £480 per week, pro rata to term time only
- Full-time, long-term contract from:
- September 2026
- July 2027
- Term-time only
- Potential for:
- Extended contracts
- Teacher training pathways following a successful placement
