Front End Developer – React (Sheffield, UK) – Inside IR35

Contract Role | Hybrid (3 Days Office | Remotely Flexible)

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Front End Developer specialising in React to join our team based in Sheffield, UK, with flexibility for a hybrid (3-days-on-site) model. This is an inside IR35 contract opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-performance, scalable frontend applications using React and modern tooling.
  • Write clean, well-structured TypeScript/JavaScript code with a focus on maintainability.
  • Build responsive and WCAG-aligned UI/UX, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Debug and optimise codebases for performance, including layout fixes, functional enhancements, and defect resolution.
  • Implement robust state management, component design, data-fetching strategies, and caching mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver user-centric solutions.
  • Write and maintain unit/integration/e2e tests and enforce code quality standards.

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proven React experience: Building production-grade web applications.
  • TypeScript/ES6+ JavaScript: Strong proficiency required.
  • HTML5/CSS3: Deep expertise in responsive layouts, mobile-first approaches, and modern CSS (Flexbox, CSS Grid, etc.).
  • Browser APIs & Performance: Understanding of modern web APIs and techniques for optimisation.
  • Testing & Debugging: Experience with unit/integration/e2e testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, testing-library).
  • Accessibility (a11y): Hands-on experience with WCAG best practices.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration across teams (design, backend, product).
  • Ability to interpret requirements and deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.

This role is ideal for candidates with 3+ years in frontend development, specialising in React and TypeScript. Although an inside IR35 arrangement will apply.
