Frontend Developer
Role: Senior React Developer
Location: London, UK – hybrid
Job Description
As a Senior React Developer, you’ll:
- Design, build, and maintain user-facing parts of web applications, creating interactive, accessible, and visually appealing experiences.
- Take ownership of frontend architecture and system design decisions.
- Ensure the application performs reliably across devices and browsers while meeting high standards for usability, accessibility, and maintainability.
- Act as POD lead and support a junior React developer.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex React-based user interfaces using:
- Modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- HTML
- CSS
- Own frontend system design for key journeys, balancing:
- Performance
- Accessibility
- Security
- Scalability
- Developer experience
- Build reusable component libraries and patterns to drive consistency across products and teams.
- Improve existing codebases by:
- Debugging issues
- Enhancing layouts
- Adding new functionality with high-quality engineering practices
- Ensure cross-browser and responsive behavior across desktop and mobile devices.
- Champion accessibility (e.g., semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, ARIA where appropriate).
- Drive inclusive design practices.
- Collaborate closely with:
- Product teams
- UX/UI designers
- Backend engineers
- QA teams To deliver seamless end-to-end experiences.
- Drive code quality through:
- Code reviews
- Testing strategies
- CI/CD best practices
- Mentor engineers and contribute to:
- Engineering standards
- Documentation
- Ways of working

Key Skills
- Strong experience building production web applications with React and modern frontend tooling.
- Expert knowledge of:
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- TypeScript
- Solid fundamentals in:
- HTML5
- CSS3 (responsive layouts, modern CSS patterns)
- Browser APIs
- Proven ability to:
- Debug and improve existing codebases (layout fixes, functional enhancements, defect resolution).
- Strong understanding of:
- Frontend architecture
- System design (state management, component design, data fetching, caching, performance).
- Demonstratable experience delivering accessible and WCAG-aligned user interfaces.
- Experience with testing approaches:
- Unit/integration/e2e
- Code quality practices
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across disciplines.
