Front-End / Design Engineer

Shape the future of digital healthcare
We're looking for a Front-End / Design Engineer to join an ambitious product team building a next-generation digital platform that is transforming how healthcare professionals interact with diagnostic services.
This is far more than a front-end development role. You'll be the design owner for a complex, data-rich web application, combining modern React engineering with exceptional product thinking to create intuitive experiences for clinicians.
You'll inherit an established design system and take it to the next level, evolving it into a scalable component library while ensuring every feature remains consistent, accessible and user-focused as the platform grows.

The Role
Working alongside a Senior Team Lead and Full Stack Developers, you'll own the front-end experience from concept through to production.

You'll:
- Build high-quality production applications using React and Next.js
- Create interactive prototypes using live and mock APIs with Node.js (or similar)
- Own and evolve the product's design system into a scalable component library
- Build reusable UI components and maintain consistency across the application
- Design through working prototypes rather than static wireframes
- Help shape the overall design language across future digital products
- Work closely with engineers and stakeholders to deliver elegant, user-centred solutions
- Continuously audit and improve the UI to ensure a polished, accessible experience
What You'll Be Designing
The product supports healthcare professionals managing complex diagnostic workflows. Success comes from simplifying complexity.
You'll design experiences that:
- Present large volumes of medical data in a clear, calm and intuitive way
- Reduce cognitive load for busy clinicians
- Guide users through complex workflows with the simplicity of modern consumer products
- Create seamless journeys across ordering, tracking, results, invoicing and account management
- Balance beautiful design with real-world usability
About You

We're looking for someone who thinks like both a developer and a product designer.
You'll likely have experience with:
- React and Next.js in production environments
- Modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Node.js or similar technologies for building mock APIs and prototypes
- Design systems and component libraries
- Building interfaces for complex, data-heavy products
- Prototyping directly in code
- AI-powered design and prototyping tools
Experience within digital health, healthcare technology, or consumer health products would be highly advantageous. We'd also love to hear from engineers who've built products in sectors such as fintech or other complex, data-rich environments where usability and clarity are critical.
