Frontend Engineer II – Accounts & Business Team

We are looking for a Frontend Engineer II to join our Accounts team and Business team.

About Octopus Energy for Business

Octopus Energy for Business (OEB) is the energy provider supporting businesses in their Net Zero transition.Their mission is to deliver market-leading green energy solutions, outstanding customer service, and competitive pricing—helping companies play a pivotal role in grid decarbonisation.

OEB operates on disruptive, innovative growth, testing and scaling smart energy products, propositions, and initiatives with bold ambition. Now, they’re rapidly scaling across all key markets.

The Accounts team modernises the core of the Octopus Energy digital experience, focusing on:

  • Seamless self-serve journeys—billing, statements, tariff management, and renewals
  • Effortless digital payment structures
  • Accessible, performant web experiences to free up energy specialists for vulnerable customer support

Responsibilities

  • Ownership & Problem-Solving:

    • Translate complex problems (not just requirements) into strong technical solutions
    • Drive full development cycles—from request to deployment and monitoring
    • Tackle large-scale tasks independently
    • Collaborate while delegating work with empathy and clarity
  • Frontend Development Excellence:

    • Build fully accessibility-compliant websites
    • Focus on scalability, performance, and scalability to handle high traffic
  • Tech Leadership:

    • Influence designs for clearer, smoother UX
    • Work across teams across marketing, operations, and data

Requirements

Essential

  • 3+ years of experience in frontend development, using one or more of our stack technologies:

  • React
  • TypeScript (desirable)
  • Next.js on Vercel (desirable)
  • GraphQL with Apollo (desirable)
  • React Testing Library & Playwright
