The Role

We are particularly keen to support professionals who've taken a career break or stepped away from audit and are now ready to return. All qualified Auditor vacancies at Grant Thornton are open to candidates looking to up-skill and re-enter the profession with greater flexibility and continued professional development opportunities.

We are seeking an experienced FS Manager / Senior Manager with audit expertise in Fintech and payments to lead our clients in this exciting sector. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, strategic audit services while driving professional growth for your team.


Key Responsibilities

1. Client-Centric Approach

  • Lead FS audit engagements in line with the firm’s methodologies, regulatory standards, and legal requirements, delivering exceptional advisory services to Fintech and payments sector clients.
  • Build and nurture business relationships, acting as a trusted advisor to clients by providing authoritative guidance and aligning services with their unique commercial and strategic goals.
  • Act as a high-profile contact for clients, engaging in escalations, complex issue resolution, and driving industry-wide decision making.

2. Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage multi-location audit teams, overseeing engagement delivery while coaching, developing, and motivating team members.
  • Conduct performance management, providing constructive feedback and career development opportunities for junior colleagues throughout the year.

3. Industry Expertise & Strategic Insight

  • Stay ahead of market trends to anticipate client needs and develop innovative, relevant audit solutions.
  • Leverage your proven FS sector knowledge (Fintech, payments, client assets/safeguarding) to enhance audit quality and create shared value for clients.

4. Core Skill Areas for Success

  • Ability to lead complex, high-impact audit engagements and demonstrate strong project and people management competencies.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic industry, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for delivering world-class audit services while offering a genuine competitive advantage to clients.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Fully-qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CA / ICAS / ICAEW or international equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in planning, leading, and delivering major FS assurance engagements (UIA, PPA, FRP, client assets safeguarding, etc.).
  • Deep expertise in Fintech and payments, including the latest UK GAAP and IFRS requirements.
  • Proven track record at Manager level (or equivalent), managing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong network within the sector, able to gauge market dynamics and identify emerging risks for clients.
