Associate - Private Capital Tax (Financial Services)

EY’s Private Capital Tax team is the largest such practice in the UK, with an exceptional reputation for sector expertise and close, trusted adviser relationships across a broad range of clients. These include global financial institutions and market-leading boutiques, high and ultra-high net worth individuals, and investment and business structures. The team provides corporate, partnership and personal tax advisory services.

The opportunity

This Associate-level role is suited to someone building their career in tax, with experience or strong interest in corporate, personal, owner-managed business, or mixed tax matters. You do not need to have expertise across all areas to apply; the role is designed to provide broad exposure, structured learning and day-to-day support from experienced tax professionals.

EY’s Private Capital Tax team provides a full suite of tax advisory and compliance services to non-listed, non-publicly traded Financial Services businesses, supporting the UK and international tax affairs of businesses, owners, employees and other stakeholders. The team also works with ultra-high net worth and high-profile individuals, advising on personal tax needs as well as business holdings and investment structures, such as trusts, funds and family companies. This includes asset management businesses, fintechs and other non-listed financial services organisations.

Due to the ongoing success and growth of the team, we have opportunities for motivated individuals to join our London or Manchester offices as part of the Private Capital Tax team. You will receive training, coaching and support to help you develop technical tax knowledge, client relationship skills and a successful career within EY.

Your key responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of UK and international tax advisory and compliance work across areas such as UK corporation tax, international tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and other relevant matters for individuals, businesses and partnerships.
  • Prepare tax research, analysis, calculations, correspondence and draft client deliverables for review by senior team members.
  • Work as part of client account teams, supporting long-term relationships and learning how to become a trusted adviser.
  • Participate in client communications, including in-person, verbal and written contact, with appropriate guidance and review.
  • Collaborate with other EY offices in the UK and overseas to support cross-border matters and broader client projects.
  • Assist with communications with HM Revenue & Customs and third parties, including financial institutions, lawyers and wealth advisory businesses.
  • Build strong organisational habits by managing assigned tasks, deadlines and documentation to a high professional standard.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
