FTC Assistant Accountant
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract
Location: Bicester, United Kingdom
Reporting To: Finance Manager
Description
The Assistant Accountant will support the Chief Accountant and Finance Manager in all aspects of company finance.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounting
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of the nominal ledger transactions
- Perform various tasks to prepare accurate management accounts for the different legal entities within the business (UK and Overseas) to include but not limited to:
- Sales reporting
- Deferred income
- GRNI / GNIR Adjustments
- Cost of sales / gross profit analysis
- Stock management
- Accruals & prepayments
- Warranty & general provisions
- Intercompany recording and reporting
- Operating expenses
- Group consolidation
- Liaise with Internal Departments as appropriate
Current Financial Year Budgets and Forecasts
- Prepare the operational expenditure budgets vs. Actuals reports each month
- Hold monthly budget review meetings with budget holders to ensure that expenditure is kept within budget throughout the financial year (UK and Overseas)

Future Financial Year Budgets and Forecasts
- Prepare draft future financial year budgets
- Work with Budget Holders to develop future financial year budgets for approval from the Management Team and Board of Directors (UK and Overseas)
Operational Financial Support
- Work with Team Leaders and Budget Holders to provide financial support as appropriate, to include but not limited to:
- Labour & overhead allocation to capture production costs and effective analysis of production variances
- Intercompany transfer of products and transfer pricing compliance
- Cost of sales / gross profit analysis
- Costings, BOM's & profit variances
- KPI Reporting
- Stock quarantine and write off
- New product developments for financial viability
Statutory Audit
- Involvement in the Statutory Audits (UK and Overseas)
Support and Cover for Accounts Assistant
- Provide support and cover in the following areas:
- Accounts Inbox and Administrations
- Cashbook Processing
- Sales Ledger and Credit Control
- Purchase Ledger Processing
- Payment Runs and Creditor Reviews
- Deal with company insurance policies
- Involvement in the Statutory Audits (UK and Overseas)

Other
- Ensure processes and tasks are compliant to current legislation and are carried out in accordance with company policies within required time frames
- Ensure that there are work instructions for all finance department tasks
- Ensure that all documents are filed appropriately within the company network, protected by file access permissions
- Undertake training as required
- Other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- At least 5 years’ experience working at an Assistant Accountant level
- Excellent finance systems skills preferable Sage 50 & Dynamics Business Central
- Excellent Microsoft skills e.g. Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word & PowerPoint
- Good communication skills
- Good teamwork skills
