Operations Manager (12-Month FTC)

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Benefits
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to join a leading logistics operation on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is ideal for a highly motivated and results-driven leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and has a proven track record of delivering operational excellence, developing teams, and driving continuous improvement.

As Operations Manager, you will take responsibility for the overall performance of a busy warehouse operation, ensuring service, productivity, quality, and safety targets are consistently achieved. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational performance while supporting key business initiatives during a period of change and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day warehouse operation, ensuring customer and operational KPIs are delivered consistently.
  • Manage and develop a team of Team Managers, Supervisors, and operational colleagues, creating a high-performance culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and customer service levels.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor operational performance through KPI analysis and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Effectively manage labour planning and resource allocation to meet fluctuating operational demands.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and support functions.
  • Drive employee engagement, retention, and succession planning across the operation.
  • Support ongoing operational projects and change initiatives throughout the contract period.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager with a strong background in logistics, warehousing, distribution, e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or 3PL environments.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager, or similar senior leadership role.
  • Experience leading large operational teams through a management structure.
  • Strong track record of delivering operational KPIs and improving site performance.
  • Excellent people leadership skills with a focus on coaching and development.
  • Experience managing change, driving continuous improvement, and delivering operational projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
