Fulfilment Manager

Our Distribution team are now looking for a Fulfilment Manager to lead a large-scale operation, driving performance, engagement, and continuous improvement across a fast-paced environment. This is a highly visible role where you will play a key part in delivering operational excellence while building a strong, collaborative team culture within our Thatcham Distribution Centre.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a complex fulfilment operation, overseeing both people and process across multiple functions. Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will manage a large team structure including Assistant Managers, Team Leaders and Operatives, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day activities alongside longer-term planning and performance delivery.

You will take ownership of operational outputs, people management and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on delivering results through your team while maintaining a positive and inclusive culture. Lead and manage a team of 60+ colleagues, with scaling resource during peak periods. Oversee daily operational activity, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met and aligned to business objectives. Provide clear direction to Assistant Managers and Team Leaders, ensuring consistency, capability and engagement across the team. Drive workforce planning, including resourcing, scheduling and optimisation during periods of change or high demand. Take ownership of departmental budgets, monitoring costs, analysing spend and supporting future planning with strong financial oversight. Review operational performance data, identifying trends and implementing measurable action plans. Champion cross-training and collaboration to create a ‘one team’ mentality and remove silos. Lead on employee relations, performance management and development planning to build a high-performing team. Support and deliver continuous improvement initiatives across processes, systems and ways of working.

About You

You will be a confident and people-focused leader with a proven ability to lead large, diverse teams in a fast-paced operational environment. You will thrive on building relationships, motivating others and driving performance through engagement and clear direction.

You will bring strong commercial awareness and be comfortable balancing operational priorities with budget and cost management, while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement. You will have proven experience in a comparable role within a large-scale, fast-paced environment. You will have experience managing teams of 60+ employees, including scaling resource during peak periods. You will be a people-focused manager, with a strong ability to motivate, influence and engage large teams. You will demonstrate strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and controlling operational costs. You will be resilient and adaptable, with the ability to manage change and competing priorities effectively. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor your approach to different audiences. You will be highly organised, data-driven and comfortable using systems and reporting tools to support decision-making.
