Department Overview

The MJ Quinn Technology Services Department supports over 3,000 people across our platforms and workforce, located across multiple sites. The department holds complete ownership of our Microsoft Modern Workplace solutions, including Microsoft Dynamics.

Job Objective

As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of applications and services built on the Microsoft technology stack. The role involves:

  • Designing, developing, and testing high-quality solutions supporting business-critical systems hosted on Microsoft Dataverse and Microsoft Azure.
  • Working across the full software development lifecycle to collaborate with stakeholders and translate requirements into scalable and maintainable solutions using Dynamics 365, Power Platform, C#, .NET, React, and broader technologies within and beyond the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Delivering solutions that integrate with third-party systems, requiring attention to interoperability, security, and performance.

In addition to technical contributions, this role fosters the organisation’s culture, reputation, and values by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and high standards in work and interactions.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design and code clean, efficient, and testable web-based applications and services.
  • Take ownership of projects from kick-off through to deployment and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish business requirements.
  • Manage requirements and development tasks using Agile and Jira.
  • Transform requirements into technical designs that align with industry best practices and produce robust, quality solutions.
  • Participate in testing and code reviews for technical accuracy, standards, and functional compliance.
  • Identify root causes of issues, communicate them clearly to stakeholders, propose solutions, and guide implementation.
  • Attend project meetings, providing clear updates and ensuring strong collaboration.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image of the department by adhering to company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Work within a larger team to develop and refine working practices and procedures.
  • Provide technical and system support to IT support teams at all levels.

Person Specification

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in:
    • Software development using C# and .NET.
    • Dynamics 365 and/or Power Platform (e.g., Power Automate, Power Pages).
    • Developing modern front-end applications using React.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful Web API.
  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft Azure services (e.g., App Services, Functions).
    • Integrating with third-party systems and external APIs.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment).

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, particularly using Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with technologies outside the Microsoft stack (e.g., Node.js or other JavaScript frameworks).

Terms & Conditions

Working Conditions

  • Department: Technical Services
  • Reports to: Development Manager
  • Hours: 09:00 – 17:00 (Monday – Friday)
  • Work Location: Knowsley (Soon to be relocating to L24)
  • Travel Requirements: None
  • Holiday Entitlements: 33 days including bank holidays
  • Rate of Pay: Based on relevant experience
