Job Description

Your role as Cycle Technician is vital to maintaining our reputation for quality products and service that customers can rely on and trust. As Technician we want you to share our passion for cycling and help every customer to have everything they need to ‘enjoy the ride’. You’ll be comfortable both fixing bicycles and talking to customers. The ideal person loves getting hands-on and is extremely process-driven - you must be able to complete repairs to an exceptional standard in a set amount of time.
Your Responsibilities
- Manage all levels of services and repairs safely and correctly and within agreed targets.
- Assess and process warranty claims.
- Provide advice and recommendations that enable the customer to find the right products and services to suit their need and budget.
- Inspect bikes prior to build, ensuring that there are no faults or damage, reporting this where necessary.
- Assemble and set up bikes safely and correctly within agreed build targets.
- Apply frame protectors, stickers, bells and reflectors.
- Complete safety checklist paperwork.
- Ensure the bike pack is supplied correctly.
- Ensure order status is updated on the system upon completion of the build.
- Undertaking safety checks and fitting accessories to customer bikes.
- Booking in servicing and repairs for customers.
- Ensuring stock loss is minimised through vigilance and complying with all security procedures.
- Processing transactions on the till system.
- Support with shop floor related tasks if required, ensuring this doesn’t impact on the workshop work load.
- Finding pro-active solutions to customer complaints and queries, escalating this to management were necessary.
- Using your skills and knowledge to drive key KPIs within the workshop.
- Ensuring the workshop and all other areas within the store are kept clean, tidy and organised at all times.
- Making the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and customers a priority at all times, and complying with all health and safety procedures in store.
- Any other reasonable duties asked of you for the effective running of the store and workshop.

The Electric Bike Shop takes the continued professional development of its workshop technicians very seriously and offers the opportunity to gain Cytech Level 2 or Level 3 via the apprenticeship route to all of its technicians who do not already hold a formally recognised professional qualification. This offer of training will be subject to a fair contractual retention clause.
Job Details
- Full-time hours: Part-time: up to 30 hours a week OR Full-time: 37.5 hours a week. Tuesday – Saturday.
- Expected start date: ASAP
- Job Types: Full or part-time, Permanent
Salary: £27,491.10 to £31,418.40 per year depending on experience (pro rata for part-time). Please note that the salary listed in this job advert applies to candidates over the age of 21. For applicants under 21, a lower rate will be offered in accordance with Minimum Wage rates.

Skills/Experience Required
THE SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS THAT MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN.
- A good level of technical bike knowledge / bike mechanics.
- Cytech Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
- A good level of product knowledge or a willingness to gain this and keep it up to date
- A customer service driven mindset and approach.
- A good understanding of retail and the importance of commercial goals such as KPI’s.
- The ability to coach and train others as well as a willingness to continually learn and develop own skills.
- The ability to listen and communicate effectively with all types of people.
- The ability to identify problems and find appropriate solutions.
- Able to safely use hand tools and machinery.
- Precision and attention to detail.
- A genuine and intelligent approach to selling.
- Honesty, integrity and doing what’s right.
- A flexible mindset, willing to work additional hours and cover shift where necessary.
- The ability to work with a team to achieve goals and improve the performance of the store.
