Full-Stack AI Engineer

Full-Stack AI Engineer – 12 Month Contract (Edinburgh)

About the Role

The Full-Stack AI Engineer will design and deliver intelligent AI-powered applications with transformative business value. This role spans full-stack development, blending modern software engineering and cutting-edge Generative AI and agentic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI applications, covering:
    • Data and model orchestration
    • Backend service architecture
    • User interface integration
  • Collaborate closely with business and product teams to implement high-impact, scalable solutions
  • Rapidly prototype and refine generative AI/agentic systems into production-ready enterprise applications
  • Develop secure, maintainable code with:
    • Best-in-class testing
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Observability frameworks
  • Integrate AI capabilities into legacy and modern systems
  • Continuously optimise deployed solutions for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency

Experience & Skills

Desired Background

  • Strong full-stack experience with Python backend development and modern API design
  • Hands-on Generative AI expertise, including:
    • Large Language Models (LLMs)
    • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
    • Agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, etc.)
  • Cloud platform familiarity (AWS/Azure/GCP) and cloud-native development practices
  • Experience delivering AI solutions in financial services or regulated environments strongly advised
  • Proficiency in software engineering best practices:
    • Unit/integration testing
    • CI/CD orchestration
    • Scalable system design principles
