Location: Manchester
7.5 hours a week, Mon - Fri.

Purpose of the Role

To deliver transformational IT development and application support services for UKExpertGroup colleagues. You will deliver the evolution of our in-house Medexxa platform, ensuring it becomes a key driver of commercial success for our clients and experts.

Medexxa integrates OCR, AI, secure storage, database, portal, and API technologies to automate and enhance the quality of our case review, collation, and chronology services. These services handle large, complex, multi-source files used by numerous stakeholders involved in potential litigation.

Your work will enable the creation of intuitive analysis and streamlined document bundle production that bring clarity and structure to diverse medical and legal documents.

What does the job involve?

Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, you will deliver a wide range of IT development enhancements and application support services for UK Expert Group colleagues. Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing the Medexxa platform, including the portal, document storage, OCR tools, AI components, integrations, and other core technologies.
  • Providing application support to ensure colleagues, experts, and lawyers experience a reliable, intuitive, and high-quality Medexxa portal.
  • Advising UKEM Directors on solution options and ideas for evolving the Medexxa platform.
  • Collaborating closely with Medexxa operations teams to ensure fee earners benefit from an optimal, efficient workflow.
  • Owning and delivering the development backlog, implementing agreed changes that enhance our services and strengthen our overall offering.
  • Embedding security and privacy by design throughout the Medexxa platform and all associated components.
  • Documenting work to standards required by the medical legal sector.
  • Driving innovation, ensuring the platform continues to improve and remains aligned with advancements in relevant technologies.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of professional services, legal or medico-legal environments.
  • Experience working in a rapidly growing business delivering IT services.
  • IT development experience of web portal, OCR, AI, storage, database, and integrations tool development bring them together into a coherent technology product or service.
  • Next.js, React 19, or T3 stack development.
  • Python and FastAPI development.
  • Google Cloud Storage, SharePoint, or Microsoft Dynamics storage experience.
  • PostgreSQL (AlloyDB) experience.
  • Awareness of cyber security and data privacy risks and experience of mitigating risks.
