Job Title

This one's a bit different...

One of the world's most iconic whisky retailers, a genuine institution, is hiring its first dedicated platform developer. A business with serious heritage, a loyal global customer base, and five active revenue streams: flagship retail, D2C e-commerce, cask trading, own-label bottling, and international export.

The tech stack currently does the job. But it's a patchwork - Shopify, Airtable, WineHub, Xero, custom integrations holding it together - and they know it's going to become a ceiling as they scale.

Your job is to replace it with something properly built. You'll design and ship a single internal platform from the ground up: a real source of truth, clean ETL pipelines, a custom internal web app, and serverless integrations across all their source systems. You'll report directly to the CEO, hold full architectural ownership, and see the impact of your work immediately across the business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is not a role where you implement someone else's spec. You decide the architecture. You make the call on the stack. You own it.

What you'll be building:

  • A central internal web application covering stock, sales, cask trading, purchasing and export
  • The data architecture underneath it - schema, data model, single source of truth on Azure
  • Serverless ETL pipelines pulling from Shopify, WineHub and Xero into clean, normalised schemas
  • AI features in production where they genuinely earn their place
  • Role-based access control, Shopify theme maintenance, and Airtable as a read-only view layer

The stack:

  • TypeScript, Node.js, React/Next.js, Microsoft Azure, Azure Functions, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Shopify (Liquid). Flexible for the right person.

What we're looking for:

  • You've designed a relational data model, built a backend around it, and shipped a usable web app.
  • You're comfortable with Azure, unfazed by data pipelines and API integrations, and you use AI-assisted development fluently, not performatively.
  • You've probably been the "everything engineer" at an early-stage startup, or you're coming from a backend/data/cloud background and want more ownership than your current role gives you.

What you get:

  • £65,000–£85,000 depending on experience, plus bonus
  • Hybrid from a genuinely interesting Soho HQ
  • Direct CEO & CTO access and immediate visibility of your impact
  • Full architectural ownership from day one
  • Staff whisky allowance and access to their team education programme

This is a rare role - the kind of technical ownership that's hard to find outside of a founding engineer position, inside a business with real character and a 60-year track record.

Interested, or know someone who might be? Drop me a message or send a CV and a short note on what you've built and the architectural decisions you're proud of.
