About us

BIOS is a pioneering neural interface company building the infrastructure on which future neural treatments will be discovered, developed, and delivered. BIOS has developed neural interfaces and AI that, for the first time, can read and write the body’s neural data, or ‘code’, to understand and correct those signals in real-time. BIOS envisions a new field of digital health treatments that use this new data-driven insight from the nervous system to create better, more targeted medicine. Neural digital therapies will use BIOS' software to understand the effects on the nerves, leading to more precise creation of pharmaceuticals and software-delivered treatments direct to the nervous system.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll work alongside a senior application engineer who owns the desktop data collector and researchers — but the browser-and-server half of the product, plus the cloud it runs on, are yours to lead. You'll be the person who can take a feature from a UI mockup through the API contract, the database migration, the React form, the test suite, the Terraform apply, and out to production.

You'll be working in:

  • A React + TypeScript SPA with a mature component library, scientific visualisation, a small state layer, and a real test suite.
  • An async-first Python service with Pydantic, raw SQL over an async PostgreSQL driver, multi-tenant data isolation, a background-task system, and OAuth + JWT auth.
  • A managed cloud environment with Terraform for everything, managed compute and PostgreSQL, object storage, secret management, and a CI pipeline you own.

What you'll do

Frontend (≈ 40% of your time)

  • Own the core web application: planning, study execution, and analysis surfaces.
  • Design and ship scientific visualisations together with researchers.
  • Maintain the API client with its custom retry/auto-relogin behaviour.
  • Own frontend quality: tighten linting/formatting, increase test coverage, and own the test setup and mock layer.

Backend (≈ 50% of your time)

  • Own the REST surface: design new endpoints, own the response envelopes and Pydantic models, and evolve the public contract.
  • Write raw async SQL (no ORM) and maintain the data model migration process.
  • Own the multi-tenant per-tenant schema model.
  • Add and maintain background tasks.
  • Implement streaming responses and server-side cursors for large dataset endpoints.
  • Work with JSONB + GIN indexes, and the streaming scientific-data metadata contract.

DevOps & Platform (≈ 10% of your time)

  • Own the cloud infrastructure that runs the web app and services.
  • Own CI pipeline, deployment, release, security, observability, and compliance posture for the cloud product.

What you'll bring (must-have)

  • 3+ years of professional full-stack experience owning production web applications end to end.
  • Solid React/TypeScript skills: hooks, suspense, concurrent features, strict mode, branded types, generics.
  • Solid Python experience with an async web framework.
  • Production experience with Terraform (or similar), Docker, and a major cloud — we run on GCP, but AWS/Azure experience is welcome.
  • Hands-on experience with managed serverless compute, managed Postgres, object storage, secret management, and managed DNS.
  • Security mindset: parameterised SQL, secret management, httpOnly cookies, HTTPS-only, XSS/CSRF.

Bonus points for

  • Multi-tenant SaaS experience (per-tenant schemas, row-level security, data isolation).
  • Plotly.js, D3.js, Observable, or another scientific/financial visualisation library.
  • Medical device development, clinical, scientific, or other regulated-industry experience (HIPAA, ISO 27001, MHRA, GDPR).
  • Familiarity with Tauri, or another webview-shell framework.
  • GCP experience.
  • CI/CD pipeline ownership: GitLab CI, or equivalent.

Other benefits include

  • Working on world-changing technology with leaders in the field.
  • Dynamic, innovative, passionate, entrepreneurial team.
  • Inclusive company culture.
  • Flexible hours (outside of core hours).
  • BUPA medical healthcare insurance.
  • Competitive pension scheme.
  • Enhanced maternity leave.
  • Additional employee benefits.
