AI-Assisted Full-Stack Developer

Southampton, Hampshire £55,000 – £60,000 Hybrid (2 days per week in office) Permanent

At this point in modern software engineering, AI-assisted development isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the standard. This Full-Stack Developer – AI-Assisted Development role is for a practitioner, not a theorist, who’s hungry to build and innovate alongside technology reshaping how we design and deploy software.

Joining a software business specialising in eCommerce and logistics, you’ll thrive in an environment where AI-driven development already influences everything from architecture to maintenance. While firsthand experience with tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or agentic development workflows would be a plus, what matters most is your curiosity, hands-on engagement with AI, and a penchant for experimentation—whether in your projects or toying with new tools in your free time.

About the Role

You’ll be part of a seasoned development team tending to a greenfield initiative within the parent company while simultaneously iteratively refining high-impact software products.

This is a full-stack developer role, but not in a strict sense: it’s a journey across the stack, embracing both unauthorised challenges and carefully constructed back-end foundations. You don’t need to excel in every area, but you should relish (and be comfortable with) the trekking between UI-first user stories and system integrity.

The team practices AI-assisted development as an integral part of their process, from auto-generating code to leveraging LLMs for testing strategies or one-off problem-solving. You don’t need commercial track record here, but your open mind will unlock opportunities to: • Pair with AI tools (such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) in your workflow instead of just reading about them. • Learn alongside the team to optimise code quality, reduce boilerplate, streamline debugging, and explore agentic AI augmentation. • Experiment in production-safe contexts to nurture better development patterns for the future.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Key Responsibilities

Each week, you’ll collaborate on:

  • Front-end & Back-end Development

    • Writing clean, scalable TypeScript in front-end and back-end services with rigor in testing, security, and maintainability
    • Building end-to-end user-facing features, APIs, and core platform logic
  • Infrastructure & Deployment

    • Working with modern cloud platforms (preferably GCP, but AWS/Azure familiarity will earn upskill opportunities)
    • Managing databases (relational & NoSQL) and CI/CD pipelines
    • Orchestrating deployment strategies (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes, GitOps, serverless cloud offerings)
  • Technical Ownership & Collaboration

    • Helping define technical standards and best practices (especially around AI-assisted workflows)
    • Working closely with Product Owners and other technologists to refine system architectures
    • Supporting incident response, code reviews, and mentoring (implicitly or formally)

Must-Have Knowledge & Experience

To thrive here, your toolbox should include proficiency in:

  • TypeScript (strict adherence to typing improves speed of idea-testing)
  • React, Next.js, or similar front-end frameworks
  • Node.js or Bun on the server side
  • RESTful API designs (preferably via Nest.js, Express, or Fastify)
  • MongoDB or PostgreSQL (or alternative relational/NoSQL solutions)
  • Jest or similar testing frameworks for unit tests
  • CI/CD environments
  • Iterative, collaborative development practices
  • Communication clarity—efficient pair programming and effective documentation

Nice-to-Have (AI & Cloud-Centric)

We’d especially welcome curious contributions in these spaces:

  • Experimental leverage of AI in development:
    • Usage of Auxiliary AI Agents (e.g., as research assistants, code autogenerators, narrowing problem spaces)
    • Coding Assistant workflows integrations using CodeLLMs, Claude Code, Cursor, or custom tooling
    • Practical LLM testing orchestration (ingested as docs, black-box tests, etc.)
  • Cloud experience:
    • GCP (preferred), AWS/Negotiative Cloud for familiarisation and scalability planning
    • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code familiarity
    • Docker, Kubernetes, serverless functions, or Feature Flagging mastery
    • Commitment to Continuous Delivery/CD practices

**ਾਇ‌دهند

Beyond emerging tech skills, you’ll bring eagerness and an attitude toward learning which eclipses qualifications. Behind every solution lies curiosity—and the courage to test it.

This complexity isn’t for coders limiting themselves to “one thing.” It’s for builders who:

  • Build better—through design imperative backed by novel tools
  • Play with the risk/toy when safe—with an eye toward direct improvement
  • Want development to work with AI, not vs it

The community values self-directed explorers who routinely ship with a mindset of “I’ll check quality myself and show how we can ship better next time.”
