Lead Full Stack Engineer- Edinburgh / Hybrid
Head Resourcing is working with a Digital Transformation Consultancy who are looking to build their presence in Edinburgh. They are seeking an experienced Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, build, and deliver digital solutions for high-profile public and private sector clients. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, technology-led consultancy delivering meaningful tech4good projects across areas such as healthcare, civil defence, sustainability, land asset management, and digital democracy.
The Role As Lead Full Stack Software Engineer, you will take a leading role in the delivery of enterprise-scale digital services. You will work across the full software lifecycle, from design and build through to deployment, operation, and continuous improvement. You will join a high-performing engineering team, working closely with colleagues across software engineering, user-centred design, delivery management, data science, and live services. The consultancy is technology agnostic, giving you the opportunity to work with a range of technologies including .NET, Java, Python, Node.js, AWS, and Azure.
Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for: Taking ownership of the delivery of small-to-medium services or major components of larger services Designing, building, deploying, operating, and continually improving digital solutions Leading on architecture and technical design for components or services Producing and maintaining clear technical documentation Working with Lead and Principal Engineers to review and refine technical approaches Supporting delivery planning, estimation, and risk management Acting as a trusted technical advisor to clients, partners, and third parties Mentoring and supporting other engineers to encourage high-quality delivery Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions

Essential Skills and Experience 5+ years’ experience in a full stack software engineering role Strong experience with .NET, Java, or Python, alongside modern JavaScript libraries Experience delivering services or significant components across the full software lifecycle Strong understanding of architectural and design patterns, including microservices and serverless Experience working in agile environments using Scrum, Kanban, and test-driven development Experience contributing to technical planning, estimation, and delivery Proven ability to mentor and support less experienced engineers Experience engaging with clients and taking ownership of technical decisions Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and/or Terraform

About You You will be a confident, hands-on engineer with strong technical judgement and the ability to work effectively in agile, fast-paced environments. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and collaborating with diverse teams. You will bring a proactive approach, strong problem-solving ability, and a desire to help others grow while delivering high-quality digital services that make a real-world impact. This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to play a key role in supporting the growth of a consultancy’s Edinburgh presence while working on meaningful digital transformation projects.
