About Murmur
We are on a mission to become the world’s foremost anonymous and exclusive social network. A platform where freedom of speech can flourish within established communities - specifically targeting universities and then large companies. By restricting access to email domains, we are able to create an unfiltered yet safe space for existing communities to share and debate, with self moderation driven by official email addresses tied to user accounts.
Although anyone can be anonymous on Facebook or X with a random email and fake name, and anyone can share with their community on internal tools at work or in university networks, the magic is in combining both. True anonymity within the exclusivity of domain restricted communities. This synergy creates a powerful foundation for network effects to scale rapidly, driving deeper engagement and a compelling user experience unlike anything else on the market today.
Our MVP is built, however, it is not yet live as we need to finalise a few technical tweaks. We have a founding team of two core members:
- CEO – Leading investment, hiring, and overall product direction.
- Marketing Lead – Driving growth, marketing, and our waitlist buzz and user acquisition strategy.
Now, we’re looking for a third Co-founder to take ownership of all things technical and join us on our journey toward our first deployment to students at the University of York, a seed round to fuel growth - with a goal for acquisition to Meta within 24 months. This is a rare opportunity to build a product that could be used by millions, scale a team from the ground up, and achieve a significant financial exit as a Co-founder.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Our Strategy
We’re taking inspiration from three notable case studies of network effects:
- YikYak - Harness the power of anonymity to fuel vibrant, unfiltered content.
- Facebook - Drive exclusivity via domain based memberships, rolling out university by university.
- Gas App - Use creative marketing tactics (waitlists, social media targeting, etc.) to prime each community before launch, ensuring excitement and rapid adoption.
Opportunity & Vision
- Equity: Up to 10% depending on experience, reflecting the pivotal nature of this role.
- Unpaid: This opportunity is unpaid, hence the equity offered. You will be an owner of the business and we will work together to acquire funding to cover founding team salaries if and when we transition to full time.
- Flexible Engagement: Part time (working around a full time job or degree).
- Massive Scale: We’re targeting explosive growth via network effects, driven by domain restricted communities.
- Exit Path: We plan to secure a seed round, and explore acquisition opportunities within 24 months, offering a unique opportunity for significant financial exit.
