About the Role
The Full Stack Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining modern full-stack applications that power Blue Light Card's member platform. Working within an Agile product squad, you will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to build scalable features using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and AWS serverless technologies.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full software development lifecycle, influence technical decisions, improve engineering standards, and help shape the future of products used by millions of frontline workers.
Key Responsibilities
Full Stack Development
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality full-stack applications.
- Build modern web applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Develop scalable backend services using serverless API architectures.
- Deliver secure, reliable, and production-ready software.
- Maintain clean, maintainable, and reusable code.
Software Engineering
- Build new product features across the full application stack.
- Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle from design to deployment.
- Write high-quality, testable, and scalable code.
- Ensure applications meet performance, security, and reliability standards.
Cloud Development
- Design and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS.
- Build serverless applications using AWS services.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions.
- Support deployment automation and cloud infrastructure management.
System Design
- Participate in technical discovery and solution design.
- Evaluate engineering trade-offs and recommend optimal solutions.
- Break down complex technical challenges into manageable solutions.
- Contribute to application architecture decisions.

Software Quality
- Maintain high engineering standards and coding best practices.
- Develop automated tests to ensure software quality.
- Participate in peer code reviews.
- Improve application performance and observability.
Production Support
- Monitor production applications and system performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Support operational stability and continuous service improvements.
- Contribute to incident resolution and root cause analysis.
Agile Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Data teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine technical requirements.
- Deliver predictable, high-quality software releases.
Knowledge Sharing
- Participate in engineering communities and technical discussions.
- Share knowledge through mentoring, pairing, and documentation.
- Support continuous learning and professional development.
- Promote collaboration and inclusive engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience developing production-ready full-stack applications.
- Strong expertise with:
- React
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- Experience designing and deploying applications on AWS.
- Hands-on experience with serverless architecture and backend APIs.
- Experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools including:
- AWS CDK
- CloudFormation
- SST
- Experience across the complete software development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering principles.
- Experience implementing automated testing strategies.
- Knowledge of application monitoring and observability.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to Agile teams.
