Software Engineer

Thought Machine's mission is bold - to permanently rid the world's banks of legacy technology. We’ve built the foundations of modern banking through cloud-first technologies. Our team of over 550 engineers across London, New York, Singapore, Sydney and Lisbon has secured $680m+ in funding, backed by investors like Molten Ventures, Eurazeo, Temasek, and JPMorgan Chase Strategic Investments.

We’re proud of our culture - recognised as a UK fintech leader on Glassdoor with top-tier employee equity and innovation awards from Global Finance and the Financial Times. Our team thrives when balanced with fun—the perfect mix to build high-impact technology.

About the Role

Software Engineering sits at the core of Thought Machine. We leverage cutting-edge practices and modern tools to solve complex, unsolved problems in banking. Your work spans full-stack development, from backend services to delightful frontend experiences, built for scale, security, and performance.

Our clients include global financial institutions and regional banks, demanding flexibility to accommodate diverse use cases. Engineers bridge backend and frontend, crafting customised solutions tailored to clients’ needs.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in London, requiring 3 days onsite (with the option to increase to 4 days, including a financial allowance).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
