Forward Deployed Engineer (Full Stack) | £100,000–£130,000 + Equity | London | Tech4Good
Tech Stack
Python (FastAPI) React PostgreSQL AWS AI & LLM-powered products
About the Role
We’re partnering with a venture-backed AI startup revolutionising healthcare—not by creating another chatbot or generic AI tool, but by embedding AI-powered solutions directly into the operational workflows of complex environments. These products are built to eliminate repetitive, manual work, empowering users to do their jobs more efficiently.
This role is for Forward Deployed Engineers—tech leads who thrive at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer engagement. You’ll split your time between:
- On-site with users, dissecting how their work is structured and where AI can add value
- Shipping production-ready software that solves these pain points
- Iterating in real time, ensuring the platform improves with each insight gained
Your contributions directly enhance the underlying platform, creating a self-reinforcing cycle of innovation.
Responsibilities
- Design and build end-to-end product features in Python (FastAPI) and React
- Collaborate deeply with customers to identify and address operational challenges
- Translate ambiguous problem statements into pragmatic, scalable solutions
- Operate in an agile environment, shipping quickly, gathering feedback, and refining products iteratively
- Drive improvements to the core platform based on field insights, ensuring future deployments are even smarter

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
The ideal candidate:
- Enjoys product-building as much as (or more than) coding
- Can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders—turning vision into action
- Thrives in unstructured, evolving environments and takes initiative rather than awaiting direction
- Balances commercial acumen with deep engineering insight
- Is driven by solving real-world problems with AI—not just deploying the latest model
This role demands someone versatile and hands-on. You’ll influence product direction, collaborate closely with founders and senior engineers, and see the direct impact of your work within weeks, not months.
Not a fit if:
- You’re looking for a cut-and-paste AI integration gig
- You prefer scaling pre-packaged solutions to avoid ambiguity
