Full Stack Engineer
Senior Full Stack Engineer – Digital Platforms
Purpose of the Role
To design, develop and improve software, leveraging various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
- Development and delivery: Produce high-quality, scalable, and optimised software solutions using modern programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to:
- Define software requirements
- Devise solution strategies
- Ensure seamless integration with business objectives
- Peer collaboration: Participate in code reviews, uphold code quality, and foster knowledge sharing.
- Technical advancement: Stay updated with industry trends, contribute to tech communities, and drive continuous improvement.
- Security compliance: Implement secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Testing: Establish robust unit testing practices to validate code design, readability, and reliability.

Key Performance Areas
- Responsibility and impact:
Ensure own function integrates smoothly with broader organisation, embedding:
- Products, services, and processes awareness

- Problem-solving: Apply technical experience to resolve issues through evidence-based solutions
- Stakeholder management:
- Communicate complex/sensitive information clearly
- Act as liaison for practitioners and external partners

- Drive risk management (including policy adoption)
- Strengthen operational controls
Technical Requirements
Core Skills
- Java mastery: Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security
- API development: Proven ability for API design and implementation
- Database expertise: Schema design and query optimisation
- CI/CD pipelines: Familiarity with GitLab (or similar) for implementation and maintenance
Desirable Skills
- Application monitoring: Experience tracking system performance and application behaviour
- Application Platform experience: Understanding of APaaS platforms (or equivalents)
- Architecture principles: Strong grasp of scalable system design and engineering
