Senior / Lead Full Stack Engineer (Golang Focus)
Location: Hybrid – 2 days per month in Central London
A fast-growing, global digital platform is seeking a Senior / Lead Full Stack Engineer with deep expertise in Golang to help scale and evolve a high-traffic marketplace product operating across multiple international markets.
This organisation delivers community-driven platforms connecting millions of users each month and is entering an exciting phase of growth, innovation, and expansion into new regions. The engineering team embraces modern practices including AI-enabled development and spec-driven engineering.
The Role
This is a hands-on full stack engineering position with a strong backend bias toward Golang, responsible for building scalable, high-performance systems that power a global user base.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimising both backend services and frontend interfaces, working closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver impactful features and improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Software Engineering
- Design, build, and deploy scalable, high-quality applications across the full stack
- Architect and develop robust backend services using Golang (Go)
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
- Contribute to modern, responsive frontend applications using Vue.js/Nuxt.js
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices

Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
Performance & Scalability
- Optimise applications for speed, scalability, and reliability
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across systems
- Ensure systems are resilient under high traffic and large-scale usage
Testing & Quality
- Implement and maintain automated testing across the stack
- Debug and resolve complex technical issues
- Ensure high levels of system stability and user experience
Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies and development approaches
- Contribute to evolving engineering processes, tooling, and practices
- Support adoption of AI-assisted and spec-driven development workflows
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Full Stack Engineer
- Strong commercial experience with Golang (Go) – essential and a primary focus
- Experience with spec-driven or agentic development approaches
- Advanced frontend expertise with Vue.js and Nuxt.js
- Strong JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS skills
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices
- Familiarity with gRPC for service-to-service communication
- Solid experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows
- Experience with containerisation and deployment tools
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
