About the Company

Blue Light Card is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to help deliver exceptional digital experiences for millions of members. Following a major platform transformation, this role offers the opportunity to work on innovative greenfield projects, enhance platform capabilities, and contribute to the evolution of scalable, cloud-native applications in a collaborative Agile environment.

About the Role

The Senior Full Stack Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining modern web applications while collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams. This role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership, mentoring, and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Location: Leicester, United Kingdom (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using modern technologies.
  • Build high-quality user interfaces and backend services to support business objectives.
  • Deliver mid-sized features from design through deployment while maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Ensure applications remain secure, reliable, and maintainable.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications using AWS services.
  • Build and maintain serverless architectures to improve scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and system availability.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering teams within Agile delivery squads.
  • Mentor junior engineers through coaching, code reviews, and technical guidance.
  • Participate in solution design, technical planning, and architectural discussions.
  • Promote engineering best practices and knowledge sharing across the team.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive experimentation through A/B testing and data-driven product enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, development workflows, and software quality.
  • Solve complex technical challenges while adapting to evolving business priorities.
  • Support innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and modern development practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Extensive professional experience in full stack software engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in React, Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services, including Amazon Cognito, DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, EventBridge, AppSync, API Gateway, and SQS.
  • Experience building and deploying serverless applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, API development, and scalable application design.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.

Preferred

  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with experimentation frameworks and A/B testing.
  • Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience.
  • Passion for continuous learning and process improvement.
