Full Stack Engineer - AI Systems

Our client, an exciting AI start-up operating in Stealth, is seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer - AI Systems to join a growing engineering team building the next generation of intelligent assistant technology.
This role will involve developing AI-native product features, building reliable agent-based workflows, and creating scalable systems that combine LLMs, memory, and external tools to deliver real-world task completion for users.
Responsibilities:
- Build end-to-end product features across frontend, backend, and AI systems
- Design and develop intelligent agent workflows capable of planning, tool usage, failure handling, and recovery across multiple steps
- Integrate LLMs, memory frameworks, and external services into production-grade applications
- Develop real-time AI experiences with streaming responses and low-latency interactions
- Improve platform reliability, observability, monitoring, and fallback mechanisms
- Collaborate closely with ML, product, and backend teams to deliver new capabilities
- Continuously analyse workflow performance and optimise user outcomes based on real-world usage
- Support the scalability, security, and resilience of AI-powered systems in production

Key Skills:
- Strong commercial experience in full stack software engineering
- Solid understanding of system design, distributed systems, and API architecture
- Experience building AI-powered products using LLMs, RAG systems, or agentic workflows
- Strong knowledge of frontend and backend development best practices
- Ability to solve complex problems and make pragmatic engineering decisions
- Experience designing reliable, scalable, and observable production systems
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Experience:
- Building and shipping full stack applications from concept through to production
- Developing AI-native products and intelligent workflow systems
- Working with LLM providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models
- Designing systems with monitoring, evaluation, and observability capabilities
- Creating resilient platforms with fallback and recovery mechanisms
- Working within fast-paced, product-led start-up environments
- Owning features end-to-end and delivering measurable business outcomes
