About The Role
FDM is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Java Developer to join our client in the Fintech sector on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This hybrid role will be based in London, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of finance and technology. As a key member of an established agile squad, you will be responsible for delivering new features and resolving issues within complex client projects. Your primary focus will be on the development and enhancement of the International Processing Engine (IPE) application, which plays a critical role in real-time back-office settlement operations for clients worldwide.
In this position, you will be expected to uphold high standards of code quality, leverage AI tools to optimize development processes, and collaborate effectively with team members to achieve sprint goals. Your expertise in full stack development, combined with your enthusiasm for innovative solutions, will contribute significantly to the success of our client's initiatives and the overall performance of the squad.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Java development, with a focus on service-oriented or microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with front-end development using modern frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
- Strong background in Spring Boot and core Java development.
- Proficiency in designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Experience working with large relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively within a team and liaising with stakeholders.
- Enthusiastic, professional, and motivated to work on challenging projects and deliver innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement back-end services, front-end modifications, and APIs to enhance the International Processing Engine (IPE) application, ensuring real-time operational efficiency for clients.
- Lead code reviews, facilitate technical discussions, and mentor team members to promote best practices and knowledge sharing.
- Create and maintain automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the codebase.
- Implement secure coding standards by validating user inputs, managing authentication and authorization flows, and ensuring compliance with enterprise and regulatory security requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions aligned with project goals.
- Utilize development tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio, and test automation frameworks to streamline development processes.
- Manage version control using Git or similar systems like Perforce, ensuring proper code management and collaboration.
- Participate in project management and collaboration activities using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including containerization, deployment pipelines, and automation tools, is desirable to support continuous integration and deployment efforts.
