About The Role

FDM is seeking a Full Stack Java Developer to join our client within the Fintech sector. This position is initially offered as a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. The role is hybrid and based in London, providing an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced, innovative environment. The successful candidate will be part of an established agile squad responsible for delivering new features and resolving issues related to the international Processing Engine (IPE) application, which is critical to our client's real-time back-office settlement operations.

As a Full Stack Java Developer, you will be expected to contribute to high-quality coding standards, utilize AI tools to enhance development processes, and collaborate closely with team members to meet sprint objectives. Your role will involve engaging with complex stories that require both backend and frontend expertise, ensuring timely delivery of features aligned with client requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated developer eager to work on challenging projects within a supportive and innovative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Java development, with a focus on service-oriented or microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and core Java development.
  • Proficiency in building and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Exposure to front-end development using modern frameworks is desirable.
  • Experience working with large relational databases and understanding of database management.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and management.
  • Enthusiastic, professional, and driven to work on complex and challenging projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement backend services, front-end modifications, and APIs to enhance the International Processing Engine (IPE) application, supporting real-time settlement operations for clients.
  • Lead code reviews, facilitate technical discussions, and provide hands-on mentorship to team members to promote best practices and knowledge sharing.
  • Create and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Implement secure coding standards, including input validation, authentication, and authorization, in compliance with enterprise and regulatory security requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Utilize development tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio, and test automation frameworks to streamline development and testing processes.
  • Manage version control using Git or similar systems like Perforce, ensuring proper code management and collaboration.
  • Coordinate with project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence for task tracking and documentation.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, including containerization, deployment pipelines, and automation tools, is desirable to support continuous integration and delivery.
