Full Stack Software Engineer — Node.js - React.js - JavaScript - London

A leading equities brokerage is rebuilding its core trading platform end-to-end — front and back — and needs an engineer who understands that a system handling billions of dollars in daily flow is not a standard web application. This is a hands-on role embedded in a high-calibre engineering team whose work is used by front-office traders across London, Chicago, and Hong Kong in real time.

You will work across the full stack — building the React interfaces traders rely on and the Node.js services that power them — solving performance, data throughput, and UX challenges that most engineers never encounter, working directly with the trading desk.

What the Full Stack Software Engineer will be doing:

  • Design and build high-performance React UIs for real-time equities data — low latency, high data throughput, browser-rendering optimisation
  • Design and build the Node.js services and APIs that feed those interfaces, handling high-volume, real-time market data
  • Develop and maintain JavaScript libraries and services tailored for demanding financial data display and processing
  • Collaborate closely with front-office stakeholders and other engineers to translate trading workflows into robust, intuitive, end-to-end solutions
  • Own the quality and architecture of both frontend and backend codebases — with genuine influence over technical direction
  • Work within a distributed team across three global offices, with day-to-day presence in London

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements for the Full Stack Software Engineer:

  • 4+ years of commercial full stack engineering experience, with a strong JavaScript foundation across the stack.
  • React expertise — you write clean, performant component architecture and know when not to use the framework.

  • Proven ability building robust, high-volume applications (frontend and backend) under real-world performance constraints.
  • Exposure to financial services, trading systems, or similarly demanding real-time data environments is a genuine advantage — not a requirement, but it will set you apart.
