Senior Web Developer (Innovative Peer Review Technology)

About Our Team

Our dynamic Agile team is driving the future of peer review in scientific discovery by developing groundbreaking technology. We’re building an innovative peer review system to streamline and enhance research evaluation.

About the Role

This moderately complex software development position allows you to engage in research, design, and full-stack development within a specialised product line. Success in this role means:

  • Working independently on well-defined problems, including program flow design, coding, and unit testing
  • Contributing to technical solutions that improve a cloud-hosted distributed system

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy web applications in cloud-hosted environments
  • Participate in architectural discussions to ensure stability, scalability, and performance
  • Identify and implement engineering best practices and CI/CD pipeline improvements to boost quality and speed
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional Agile team (developers, product managers, QA, DevOps) to deliver impactful business outcomes
  • Engage with business stakeholders to clarify requirements, iterate on feedback, and deliver user-centric solutions in an agile environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrable knowledge of most (but not all) of these:
    • Programming languages: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript
    • Frontend frameworks: React, Angular, or similar
    • Databases: SQL
  • Version control & workflow: Experience with Git and proficiency in modern IDEs (IntelliJ, VSCode), including refactoring tools
  • Agile & DevOps collaboration: Exposure to Jira and Confluence for documentation
  • Testing & TDD: Experience with test-driven development and libraries like Jest or Mockito
  • Agile execution: Familiarity with Scrum or Kanban, and the ability to discuss/improve team practices
  • AI & innovation: Interest in AI-based solutions or related technologies
  • Problem-solving & growth mindset: Willingness to develop and grow technically
