About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Ascenti Digital, the team responsible for designing, building and supporting the technology that powers our organisation.
Working closely with our Head of Engineering, CTO and fellow Software Engineers, you will play a key role in developing scalable, high-quality applications across our growing product portfolio.
This is more than a development role. You will have the opportunity to influence technical direction, contribute to software architecture, mentor colleagues and help shape engineering best practice across the business.
Whether you are improving existing platforms or building entirely new digital products, your work will directly support colleagues, clinicians and patients across the UK.

What You Will Be Doing
- Designing, developing and maintaining modern full-stack applications using React, TypeScript and related technologies.
- Taking technical ownership of features and helping shape future software architecture.
- Building intuitive, responsive user interfaces with a strong focus on user experience.
- Working across both front-end and back-end systems to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
- Collaborating closely with Product, Digital and Business stakeholders to turn ideas into working software.
- Improving code quality through testing, peer reviews and engineering best practices.
- Mentoring junior engineers and helping develop a collaborative engineering culture.
- Contributing to Agile ways of working and continuous improvement across the Digital function.
- Supporting innovation by exploring new technologies, including AI-assisted development tools.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with curiosity, collaboration and a passion for continuous improvement.
You will ideally bring experience in:
- React, TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Next.js and modern front-end development.
- React Native mobile application development.
- State management solutions such as Redux or RTK Query.
- CSS and Tailwind CSS.
- Relational databases and full-stack application development.
- Unit and integration testing.
- Git and Azure DevOps.
- Modern CI/CD practices.

- Azure cloud technologies.
- Node.js frameworks such as Fastify or Express.
- Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
