ABOUT JOYFUL
UK private dentistry is an £8.4 billion industry held together by outdated software—practices pay over £1,200/month across six legacy systems that don’t integrate, aren’t clinically intuitive, and haven’t improved in decades.
Joyful is rewriting this at zero cost to clinics. We create a single iPad-native platform for AI agents, patient management, dental plans, telecoms, clinical notes, and regulatory compliance. Revenue comes from dental plans, not software subscriptions—our success coincides with the growth of the practices we serve.
Our philosophy? We’re human-first: AI-bolstered software that enhances practitioner-patient conversations, not obstructs them. Everything we build is clinically reliable, minimally distracting, and genuinely useful.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
- Human-first: Software exists to serve people, not the other way around.
- AI as a superpower: Our team uses generative AI day-to-day to accelerate ideas, refine prototypes, and assemble working software—faster and smarter.
- Boringly reliable: Clean code with strong types, clear naming, and tested abstractions—not clever but unmaintainable architecture.
- Earn it, don’t buy it: Our product quality and company culture are shareable, not yet-to-be-seen.
THE ROLE
We’re building differentiators—not incremental tweaks. As an AI-Native Developer here, you won’t just write code. You’ll help design workflows, navigate tradeoffs, guide human—aided development, and curate safe connections between humans and code for maximal productivity.
You’ll work in a monorepo of TypeScript apps, collectively delivering:
- Clinical workflows (practice tools, patient histories, AI agents)
- Patient-facing mobile apps
- Scheduling, payments, memberships, and regulatory compliance

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Your role spans the lifecycle: from product discussion to feedback on AI-interventions, with a focus on security, scalability, and usability within healthcare.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build features for:
- Backend: Scheduling, payments, workflows, AI-agent integrations
- Frontend: React-based dashboards/charts, patient-facing interfaces
- Use AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor) responsibly: search, propose alternatives, simplify transpile (with human oversight).
- Review and co-author AI outputs: Moderate AI-generated code to ensure it maps to Joyful’s gov-tested naming, health-code compliance, UX priorities.
- Collaborate with product teams to refine turnkey feature ideas: support well designed AI-assisted prototyping (e.g., Figma to zero-bug code). -fluence health tech-specific tradeoffs (e.g., schema design, backoff limits, clinical audit logging).
- Maintain and scale:
- APIs (REST/GraphQL)
- Product-focused scheduling, queues, and background actors
- Improve documentation & consistency as new patterns emerge.
THE KIND OF DEVELOPER WE SEEK
- Craftspeople with taste: Care deeply about preserving/extending readability. Will sigh as AI suggests "bgProcessOrchestrator," and build "appointmentscheduler-adapter" instead—his future co-workers won’t curse you.
- Monorepo natives: You navigate a multi-package codebase like a dentist finds a molar cavity—without flashlight.
- Backoffice建材: 1–3 years s/c backend (queue workers, SQL studies, API Lakes): Your instincts around replication landmarks and eventual (db) consistency matter more than writing docs for it.
- Design Assistants: Help non-devs (PMs, designers) craft solutions that assume 10-40x brevity vs their paper drafts—your biggest win is an MVP made tangible.
- Trust & Guardianship: Plainly guide AI-dev experiments: "...nope ExponentialBackoffFactor—base_opency_unit_charges+task_status_queue=low_ac.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Create and comment officially launched TypeScript lifecycle transactions (e.g.,
subscribeToRecurrenceAndTierForPatientMacroflow). - Debug stack traces in Drizzle ORM, v8 Node, or Ionic IDE.
- Explain a schema-snapshot transaction in 1–2 paragraphs.
- When confronted with an abrupt “use React Router v7” request, classify work—and have YAGNI debates.
- Exposé: Prove you’ve coordinated with teams that care about HIPAAish workflows or patiopathologys.
HOW TO WIN
Two words: Minimally Subtracts. "Can't get the UI to update" vs "My demo showcases context-os/student-pricing with...?"
Nice to have historical pride-in:
- Healthcare (dentistry, med-rec, schedulers)
- Delivery reduction mindfulness
- Tailwind Critique
WHAT YOU’LL GAIN
- Flat equity & salary pegged on impact (not headcounting).
- Our team alchhosl Taktics+Gnumeric circumfereraient over legosy priorities with 9-year-old projects: You’ll be hitting the ground here running on real business-critical systems.
- Option to design features that directly impact user experience—some feature which reduces a dental waiting time (performed by AI when patients portraits) by 2 weeks—that’s your baby.
The joy here is you submit code that actually slips into patient days as erupt their nerves.
