Support/Care Worker – Permanent Position

Position: Permanent Sector: Health & Social Care (Mental Health Support) Location: Hazelmere, Heywood (Rochdale), Greater Manchester – OL10 3FY Salary: £13.45 per hour (SC/LC tier)

About the Role

Every day at Lifeways SIL, our team transforms lives by enabling individuals with complex mental health needs to live independently. Join Hazelmere, our modern supported living service in Greater Manchester, and play a critical role in empowering people to achieve their full potential.

At Hazelmere, we offer 16 fully supported, self-contained apartments with 24-hour specialist recovery-focused care. Our team helps transition residents from institutional settings into sustainable community living, assisting with:

  • Mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, BPD, OCD, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and self-harming behaviours
  • Day-to-day life skills, independence, and goal setting
  • Person-centred support tailored to each individual’s recovery journey

Shift Pattern

Hours Required: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

  • Rotational shifts: days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins (8:00am–10:00pm)
  • Flexibility is essential to meet the needs of our residents
  • Contracted hours: 37.5 hours; rota model (Monday–Sunday)

Sessional/bank hours also available


What You’ll Do

  • Provide holistic, person-centred mental health support tailored to residents’ recovery needs
  • Guide residents in independent living and household management
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive environment that encourages progress
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personal recovery plans
  • Assist residents with managing medication, therapy appointments, and extracting from isolation
  • Support residents’ engagement in community, employment, and education opportunities

Requirements

We thrive on kindness, passion, and strong interpersonal skills—unrelated previous care experience is not mandatory, but you must:

  • Have a genuine desire to support people with varying mental health needs
  • Commit to delivering high-quality, personalised care with empathy and professionalism
  • Possess strong communication, organisation, and IT skills
  • Be flexible, resilient, and eager to grow in your role
  • Have valid EW/RQF Fuller Training (or be willing to work towards a NVQ/QCF in Health & Social Care, funded by Lifeways)
