You'll work closely with education staff and other specialists to support children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
About the Role
As the school's Counsellor, you will provide high-quality therapeutic support to pupils experiencing emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges. You will help children and young people develop emotional regulation, healthy relationships, resilience, and strategies to engage successfully in school life.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with teachers, families, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, and other professionals to deliver holistic, child-centred support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group counselling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Complete assessments and develop individual intervention plans.
- Monitor and evaluate therapeutic progress, adapting interventions where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records and produce professional reports.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, carers, and external professionals.
- Support trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practice across the school.
- Promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing through whole-school initiatives, staff consultation, and therapeutic advice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
