Job Description
🕒 Full-time role – 37.5 hours a week
📍 HMS Raleigh/Plymouth
🔐 Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering English and Maths Functional Skills to the Royal Navy, this may be in the classroom or out in the field (on ships etc) or providing 1-2-1 support
- Monitoring, identifying and producing appropriate training documentation
- Responsible for the Duty of Care of trainees under your control
- Developing coaching and mentoring skills to support learners
- General administration tasks
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills for the role:
- Level 2 English and Maths (minimum; higher qualification in subject area preferred)
- Teaching qualification (minimum Level 3 or willingness to work towards)
- Experience delivering Functional Skills or equivalent qualifications
- Strong understanding of English and/or Mathematics curriculum and assessment requirements
- Ability to support learners with diverse needs, including additional learning support
- Good IT skills and ability to deliver digital or remote learning

Desirable
- Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. Diploma in Education and Training)
- Experience within apprenticeship provision
- Knowledge of ESFA funding rules and compliance requirements
- Experience with online assessment platforms (e.g. EVOLVE)
- SpLD or additional learning support qualifications
- Coaching and mentoring qualification
- Experience working with geographically dispersed learners
