A CAREER BUILDING AI WITHIN POINT72’S FUNDAMENTAL EQUITIES BUSINESS
Fundamental Equities is Point72’s largest and longest-tenured investing business. For more than 30 years, we have equipped our analysts and portfolio managers with the resources, autonomy, and support we believe they need to build exceptional careers that reflect their unique strengths as investors.
We maintain a high bar for hiring and make a deep, long-term investment in our talent—the tenure of our people reflects our focus on understanding and underwriting process, not just looking at yesterday’s PnL.
Steve Cohen started this firm as an equities investor and has maintained a lifelong commitment to helping the best in our industry get even better. We have a strong track record of identifying, supporting, and advancing our homegrown talent—as of this posting, more than half of the PMs launched through our emerging manger program, Point72 LaunchPoint, were previously analysts at our firm. This commitment is further reinforced through dedicated coaching and development programs designed to help accelerate growth at every phase of an analyst’s career.
For people with the passion and drive to become truly great equities investors, Point72 offers an environment unlike any other.
What You'll Do
Solve open research problems at the intersection of AI and capital markets for a cross-sector fundamental equities team within Point72 Own the full lifecycle of AI products that transform the research process of a fundamental equities team within compliance approved boundaries — from napkin sketch to production system, with tight feedback loops against one of the hardest benchmarks there is: live markets Lead end-to-end product development from ideation and prototyping to deployment and iterative improvement, owning roadmaps and prioritization Architect and orchestrate the systems used in the decision-making process of experienced investors translating non-technical requirements to technical ones and stress testing your work against decades of market intuition Act as the lynchpin connecting a fundamental equities team to, and collaborating with, the broader AI resources and engineers within the firm Build infrastructure for reasoning over messy, real-world data Push the boundaries of what LLMs and neural architectures can do in high-stakes domains Design rigorous evaluation frameworks for problems without clean labels — build the testing, monitoring, and experimentation infrastructure needed when "accuracy" isn't a well-defined metric

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
