Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, located in Ramsbottom, Bury, Lancashire, is one of the UK’s largest and most established animal rescue charities, with over 60 years of dedication to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. Each year, the sanctuary rescues and rehomes over 1,000 animals each year while also providing lifelong care for those who cannot be rehomed. Renowned for its ethical practices and compassionate approach, Bleakholt welcomes thousands of visitors annually, fostering connections between the community and its mission. Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Fundraising and Events Coordinator, based on-site at our sanctuary in Ramsbottom. The Coordinator will be responsible for planning and managing events to raise funds and awareness, maintaining relationships with donors, sponsors, and local businesses, and identifying new fundraising opportunities. Additional responsibilities include overseeing event logistics, collaborating with volunteers and staff, and ensuring all activities align with the sanctuary’s mission and values.

Main Aims of the Role
- To be responsible for the achievement of agreed fund-raising targets
- To raise the Bleakholt profile, build positive supporter networks and grow fundraising potential using a wide variety of media channels
- To lead and co-ordinate Bleakholt’s community fund-raising activities, events, grant applications and associated public relations and marketing
- To establish new sources of income for Bleakholt including additional regular giving, legacies, major donors and corporate sponsors
- To establish new Bleakholt fundraising events/initiative’s
- To deliver Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary’s Fundraising Strategy
- Must have a demonstrated fundraising performance history
Strategy and Planning
- Update the Board on the implementation of the fund-raising strategy, including the potential costs and rewards of activities
- Align the fund-raising effort with the development of the Bleakholt brand and its external image, including the on-line presence
- Work with staff and board to forge positive relationships with key supporter groups
- Lead officer for major fundraising campaigns e.g. Bleakholt’s 70th year and supervision of fundraising staff

Activities
- To be responsible for organising events, site visits, third party events, educational talks and fund raising campaigns
- Recruit, organise and manage volunteers to carry out various fundraising functions on behalf of the charity
- To expand and maintain an engaging calendar of fundraising activities and events
- To complete grant applications and mail-shots
Qualifications
- Experience in Event Planning and Event Management
- Strong Communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships
- Proficiency in Customer Service and handling public interactions
- Knowledge of Sales and developing sponsorship opportunities
- Ability to organize events within budget and meet fundraising targets
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Previous experience in fundraising or working with charities is a plus
- Passion for animal welfare and the sanctuary’s mission
