Read With Me
Read With Me is a registered charity providing one-to-one reading support for children in over 115 schools across Gloucestershire. Our volunteer-led sessions help children develop the confidence and skills they need to read well.
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Fundraising and Marketing Manager to join our team and play a key role in growing awareness, strengthening engagement and increasing income to help us reach even more children.
Salary: £30,000
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)
Location: Remote working with frequent travel across Gloucestershire (own transport essential)
Reports to: Director
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference and enjoys working across both fundraising and communications. You will play a key role in developing and delivering fundraising activity, building relationships with supporters and partners and raising awareness of our work through effective marketing and storytelling.
As a small charity, this is a varied and rewarding role offering the opportunity to make a real impact. You will work closely with staff, volunteers and trustees, contributing across the organisation to help achieve our objectives.
Key responsibilities
Fundraising
- Work with the director to deliver a fundraising strategy to support the charity’s income goals.
- Identify and develop new fundraising opportunities, including community fundraising, events, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations and individual giving.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, supporters, businesses and community partners.
- Develop and nurture positive relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, informed and engaged in supporting fundraising activities.
- Lead fundraising campaigns and activities, from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
- Lead on grant applications, including research, writing and impact reporting.
- Create engaging fundraising materials and resources to support campaigns.
- Monitor fundraising performance and provide reports and insights to the team and trustees.
- Represent the charity at events and networking opportunities.

Marketing and communications
- Develop and deliver the charity’s marketing and communications plan.
- Create engaging content across digital channels, including social media, website, newsletters and campaigns.
- Work with volunteers to gather stories, feedback and content that demonstrate the charity’s impact and strengthen community engagement.
- Support brand development and ensure consistent voice across all communications.
- Manage and grow online engagement and community reach.
- Produce marketing materials including case studies, campaign content, presentations and promotional resources.
- Monitor communications performance and use insights to improve engagement.

About you
We are looking for someone who is creative, organised and motivated, with experience in fundraising, marketing or communications within the charity sector or a similar environment.
You will have:
- Experience of developing and delivering successful fundraising activities or campaigns.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to tell compelling stories.
- Experience creating content for digital platforms and social media.
- The ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage complex workloads.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to work independently and bring new ideas.
- A genuine passion for the charity’s values.

Desirable experience
- Experience of charity fundraising, including grants, trusts, corporate fundraising or community fundraising.
- Experience managing social media, websites and digital marketing tools.
- Experience working with CRM systems.
- Experience supporting events, community activities or volunteer-led initiatives.
- Experience working in a small charity or a role requiring flexibility and initiative.
