Overview & Summary
Kroll Bond Rating Agency UK Limited is seeking an Associate or Associate Director to join its growing Funds Ratings team in our London office. The team specialises in assigning and monitoring credit ratings for debt instruments issued by funds, closed-end funds, and other fund vehicles. We assign ratings across a diverse portfolio that includes fixed income, private equity, private credit, real estate, and middle market lending. We are seeking a proactive candidate with a strong interest in fund investment and credit strategies, and a proven ability to perform in-depth credit analysis.
About the Job
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with credit research on funds, closed-end funds, and other investment vehicles
- Collaborate on the development and refinement of rating tools, including cash flow and asset coverage models used for evaluating fund debt structures
- Prepare and present internal credit memos and analytical publications for stakeholders
- Participate in due diligence meetings with fund management teams to assess their investment acumen, risk management and strategy execution capabilities
- Develop and maintain complex analytical models, spreadsheets and databases
- Collaborate with KBRA experts across rating sectors, including project finance, corporate finance, structured finance and private credit
- Perform research for both internal and external publication purposes

As an early career associate, you will be expected to grow into more independent respective ownership of your work. In comparison, our Associate Directors commonly have responsibility for:
- Independently leading credit reviews and rating processes for various fund-related transactions
- Directing or assisting with the development of rating methodologies and cash flow projection models
Requirements
To succeed, you should demonstrate:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, mathematics, or a related field; or another degree that develops strong analytical skills might also be considered, particularly with relevant experience
- 4+ to 8 years of credit analysis experience (structured prioritity for those with exposure to fund lending, private credit or structured finance), with further CRA experience strongly preferred
Technical & Sector-Specific Skills
- Excellent analytical and time-management skills, with a high attention to detail — ensuring accuracy and understanding the nuances of a complex rating process
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including independent judgement and diplomatically interacting with external parties
- Excel mastery, with a strong preference for candidates who can leverage advanced financial modelling
- SQL and/or VBA familiarity is a competitive advantage
- CFA (or CFA candidate) designation is viewed as a hallmark of strong analytical ability
