Funeral Service Crew
Location: Luton, LU1 1SE
Hourly Rate: £13.24 per hour + benefits
Hours: Part-time, 16 hours per week (up to 7.5 hours per day, 3 days a week), varied shift pattern (days to be discussed at interview)
- On-call rota: 1 week in 4

About the Role
Every day matters at the Co-op Funeralcare. As part of our Funeral Service Crew, you’ll play a vital role in supporting families through one of the most difficult times in their lives.
This is a meaningful opportunity to help people say their final goodbyes with dignity, professionalism, and compassion. No prior experience in a funeral setting is required – we provide full training and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
• Collect the deceased from various locations responsibly and sensitively • Safely bear coffin bearers during funeral proceedings and drive funeral vehicles • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, facilities, and vehicles • Prepare and engrave coffins for funerals • Assist with the preparation of the deceased (where necessary) for viewings and ceremonies • Update client management systems with accurate and timely records • Follow health and safety guidelines for lifting, carrying, and moving coffins using appropriate equipment

Requirements
Essential Criteria:
• A full UK manual driving licence – required for transporting services • Physical capabilities to accomplish manual lifting and handling (appropriate training provided) • Good IT skills (working knowledge of computers, tablets, and basic software applications) • Ability to handle emotionally challenging situations with empathy in customer interactions • Attention to detail and compliance with regulatory standards
