The Opportunity

Trafford Lowe Funeral Services – Somercotes are currently looking for a Casual Funeral Service Operative. The hours are varied and designed to fit around your other commitments.

Calm, professional Funeral Service Operatives play a vital role in our service, often being the first point of contact for families. A strong candidate will provide reassurance during an emotional time, ensuring their loved one is treated with dignity and care.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Bringing the deceased into the funeral home’s care
  • Assisting behind the scenes, including:
    • Mortuary work
    • Coffin fitting
    • Preparing and dressing the deceased
    • Conducting funeral services
    • Pallbearing duties
    • Ensuring smooth operations on the day

Key Requirements

  • Must hold a valid full driving licence (due to occasional vehicle driving duties)
