The Opportunity
John Clark Funeral Service (Bellshill) is recruiting for a casual Funeral Service Operative. Hours are flexible, making it ideal to balance around other commitments.
Key role details:
- Must provide calm, professional reassurance to families when they first meet you.
- First points of contact as you welcome bereaved families into care.
- Responsible for guiding and supporting families through the preparatory process and funeral service.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Funeral Service Operative plays a critical role in:
- Transporting the deceased using company vehicles (full driving licence required)
- Working in the mortuary, preparing and dressing the deceased
- Assisting in coffin fitting and funeral arrangements
- Supporting ceremonies, including pallbearing and ensuring smooth processes
- Operates as part of on-call/out-of-hours rota for additional coverage

Key Requirements
- Experience in a care or compassionate service role is beneficial (not mandatory).
- Full driving licence is essential due to transport duties.
- Willingness to work variable rotating shifts, including evenings/weekends and occasional emergency call-outs.
