The role:
Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer outcomes, solving complex challenges, and driving innovative solutions? We're looking for a Further Work Resolution Technician to act as the vital link between works promoters and our Alliance Partners, ensuring all further works are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
As a direct representative of United Utilities, you'll be the trusted point of contact for customer-impacting activities, taking ownership of issues on site and ensuring resolutions are delivered quickly and effectively. You'll play a key role in protecting network integrity, championing innovative working methods, and reducing disruption for our customers through the use of trenchless technology and other modern solutions.
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, you'll help streamline decision-making, maximise operational performance, and ensure our customer commitments are consistently achieved.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the primary liaison between works promoters and Alliance Partners to ensure further works are delivered effectively and in line with customer expectations.
- Taking ownership of customer-impacting activities on site, making informed decisions and resolving issues quickly to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Promoting innovative solutions that minimise excavation work, reduce costs, and maximise the use of trenchless technologies wherever possible.
- Supporting operational teams to ensure compliance with all Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, Security, and regulatory requirements.
- Acting as the Responsible Person for Health & Safety matters when undertaking network access and site-based activities.
- Representing Wastewater Network Operations to ensure assets are constructed to the correct specification and are fit for purpose.
- Providing technical guidance and support to United Utilities and Alliance Partner field teams.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal colleagues, local authorities, contractors, supervisors, project managers, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitoring and reviewing key performance indicators, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving performance enhancements.
- Acting as a custodian of the wastewater network, ensuring works are completed to the required standards to protect long-term asset integrity.

What we're looking for:
- A recognised engineering qualification such as an HNC in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline), or significant equivalent experience within wastewater, utilities, or civils operations.
- Extensive knowledge of sewer network operations and maintenance, including a strong understanding of sewerage legislation, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, with awareness of OFWAT measures and performance commitments.
- Hands-on operational experience in civils and wastewater activities, including excavation, trenching, sewer repairs, lining, jetting, CCTV inspections, and high-pressure water jetting techniques.
- A strong commitment to safety and compliance, with a good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, NRSWA requirements, and safe systems of work within operational environments.
- Excellent communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams, Alliance Partners, contractors, local authorities and customers.
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience of planning workloads, prioritising competing demands, managing budgets or costs, utilising operational IT systems, and identifying the most effective solutions to network issues.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
