Aspiring Teachers – Paid Classroom Experience | York

Primary & Secondary Schools Across York | Full-Time Opportunities | Flexible Start Dates

Are you considering a career in teaching but want to gain valuable classroom experience before committing to a PGCE or teacher training?

Milk Education is working with welcoming primary and secondary schools across York and the surrounding areas who are looking for enthusiastic Aspiring Teachers to join their teams as Teaching Assistants, Cover Supervisors, Learning Support Assistants, and Behaviour Mentors.

This is the perfect opportunity to develop your classroom confidence, work alongside experienced teachers, and gain the hands-on experience that teacher training providers value.

Hours & Contract

  • Monday–Friday, 08:30–15:30
  • Full-time opportunities available
  • Short-term, long-term, and permanent roles
  • Flexible start dates available

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Support pupils across the classroom, on a 1:1 basis, and in small groups.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons as a Cover Supervisor where required.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs, including SEN.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents.
  • Gain valuable experience across a variety of year groups and subjects.
  • Develop the confidence and practical skills needed for a future teaching career.

Who We're Looking For

This role is ideal for:

  • Graduates considering a PGCE, SCITT, Schools Direct or other teacher training routes.
  • Aspiring teachers looking to gain paid classroom experience.
  • Individuals with experience working with children or young people through coaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work or volunteering.
  • Confident, enthusiastic and proactive individuals with a genuine passion for education.

No formal teaching qualifications are required—just a positive attitude and a desire to inspire the next generation.
